Baseball Recap: Fabens Takes a Loss

Fabens came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-5 to the Del Valle Conquistadores. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Conquistadores: they've now lost four in a row.

Fabens saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dwight Escobar, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs. Escobar has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Another was Dylan Escobar, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fabens' defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Del Valle, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.

Fabens will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on the 17th. As for Del Valle, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-2 defeat against Americas on the 10th.
