Basketball Recap: Excelsior Charter Comes Up Short

Excelsior Charter lost against Lucerne Valley back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Excelsior Charter Eagles had to suffer through a 56-18 loss at the hands of the Lucerne Valley Mustangs. The Eagles were down 42-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Audrey Mross continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lucerne Valley, dropping a triple-double on 20 points, ten boards, and 11 steals. Those 11 steals gave Mross a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Kelly, who went 7 for 10 en route to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Excelsior Charter's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Lucerne Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Excelsior Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-14 defeat against Riverside Prep on the 20th. Lucerne Valley has also already played their next game, a 76-24 win against Victor Valley Christian on the 21st.
