Baseball Game Preview: Pleasant Spartans vs. Elgin Comets

The Pleasant Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Elgin Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Pleasant and three for Elgin.

On Monday, Pleasant didn't have quite enough to beat Mohawk and fell 3-2.

Nehemiah Riddle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025.

At the plate, Pleasant saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Hamper, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Elgin's offense. They lost 7-0 to Mt. Gilead on Monday.

Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.

Pleasant suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Elgin in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
