Football Recap: Jefferson West Starts Season with Win Against Riley County

Jefferson West had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Riley County Falcons 14-13. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 27-14 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Jefferson West got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brixton Schwinn out in front who rushed for 48 yards and one score, and also threw for 140 yards and one TD. Another pass catcher making a difference was Crayton Holman, who gained 95 total yards and a touchdown.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jefferson West is set to take on their familiar foe Royal Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Riley County will challenge rival Holton on Friday.
