Basketball Recap: Tulare Union Victorious

Tulare Union won the last time they faced Tulare Western, and Kailee Gilbert did her part to make sure it happened again. The Tulare Union The Tribe managed a 38-32 win over the Tulare Western Mustangs on Thursday thanks in part to Gilbert, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. What's more, she also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

Kaiden Valdez was another key player, putting up six points and 13 boards. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the defeat, Tulare Western had strong showings from Miranda Nevarez, who posted ten points and five steals, and Regina Toscano, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Toscano is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played.

Tulare Union's record is now 11-12. As for Tulare Western, they moved to 14-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tulare Union will head out to face off against Lemoore at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tulare Union is facing Lemoore at the right time seeing as Lemoore is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Tulare Western has already played their next match (against Mission Oak), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
