Baseball Game Preview: Olean Huskies vs. Maryvale Flyers

The Olean Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the Maryvale Flyers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olean's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Maryvale's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Olean's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Sunday. They blew past Depew 9-0. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Maryvale rose to the challenge on Sunday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chiefs, sneaking past 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Isaiah Hill and Jacob Kuciel made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Hill pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kuciel didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Hill went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Kuciel went 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs. That's the most triples Kuciel has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Dominic Daly was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Maryvale is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Olean, their record is now 5-2.

Olean might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Maryvale in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
