Robinson earns MVP honors after shattering tournament scoring mark in Mexico.

The USA Basketball U17 women's team brought home its sixth straight gold medal Sunday beating Canada 87-57 at the FIBA World Cup in Mexico.

The run to the title was a record-setting performance for the Americans. MVP Jerzy Robinson of Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) scored 25 in the title contest and joined former MaxPreps National Player of the Year Juju Watkins as the only players to be named MVP in the U16 AmeriCup and the FIBA U17 World Cup.

McKenna Woliczko of Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) was also named to the All-Star Five after dropping 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists in the championship game. For the tournament, she averaged 12.4 points and 9.6 rebounds.

Robinson set the mark for most points scored in the tournament with 146, breaking the 118-point effort of former Norcross (Ga.) standout Diamond DeSheilds in 2012.

The United States went 7-0 in the event, winning by an average margin of 48 points per game and breaking team records by averaging 100 points per game and 62 rebounds per contest.

The gold also cemented a sweep for the junior national teams, which won men's and women's U17 and U18 titles.

Agot Makeer of Crestwood Prep (North York, Ontario, Canada) was named to the All-Star Five from Canada while Mexico's Sara Okeke and France's Ainhoa Risacher also made the quintet.

Savannah Swords of Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) scored a game-high 15 for Canada in earning the silver while Deniya Prawl of IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) added 13 points.
