Football Game Preview: West Pioneers vs. Junction City Bluejays

The West Pioneers will venture away from home to take on the Junction City Bluejays on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: West has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Junction City will arrive with three straight wins.

West is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against South on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Pioneers took a blow against the Titans, falling 41-8. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Colby Eck-Watkins put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 105 yards on only 14 carries, and also threw for 52 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Junction City got the win against Emporia on Friday by a conclusive 28-6. The result was nothing new for the Bluejays, who have now won three matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

Junction City's record is now 6-2. As for West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

West couldn't quite get it done against Junction City in their previous meeting back in October of 2017 as they fell 28-21. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
