Randi Roelling, Hannah Duncan, Madeline Lawson and Ayla Tuua all honored as Player of the Year for their respective class.
A total of 89 players have been identified as members of the 2023 MaxPreps All-Sac-Joaquin Section softball team.
There are 28 players from the Class of 2023, 27 from 2024 along with 15 players from the 2025 and 2026 classes. Each class also has its own Player of the Year.
The selection process was based on individual performance during section play, with regional play not being considered. An emphasis was placed on team success. Class of 2023
PLAYER OF THE YEARP — Randi Roelling, Central Catholic (Modesto)The
Cal pledge was remarkable once again in the circle and at the plate.
She finished 18-4 on the bump with a state best 375 strikeouts. For her career, she finished with a 0.82 ERA and nearly 1,000 Ks.
UTIL — Jessica Almeida, MantecaThe rock for the Buffaloes this year as a senior leader who played multiple positions. She finished with an impressive .486 average.
The Saint Mary's commit had another solid season for the Bulldogs from the leadoff spot and her work in the center field. She hit .455 and swiped 18 bags.
OF — Jenissa Conway, MarysvilleOnce again showed why she is one of the top recruits in all of the Class of 2023. The Michigan commit hit 10 home runs and batted .689.
Played a huge role in the Bears' Division 6 championship season, striking out 291 batters – including 12 in the section title game.
P — Delainey Everett, OakdaleThe lefty can bring it in the circle. She maintained a 0.95 ERA against good competition all year long.
OF — Kealani Nitta, Franklin (Elk Grove)The speedy weapon on both sides of the field was a tough out at the plate and covered major ground in center field.
UTIL — Makayla Freshour, VacavilleThe San Jose State commit hit .514, drove in 38 runs and blasted six bombs for the Bulldogs.
IF — Malissa George, TracyThe Sacramento State commit finished the season with a 16-game hitting streak, piling up 28 hits over that span.
OF — Kaliyah Gipson, Vanden (Fairfield)The MEL Player of the Year finished her senior season batting over .500. She was a force on both sides of the ball.
IF — Sakora Harvell, Sheldon (Sacramento)The LMU commit had 44 base hits, drove in 33 and hit seven bombs. She also was a wall at shortstop.
IF — Mariah Hopkins, Cordova (Rancho Cordova)To say she has a little pop in her bat would be an understatement. The Dominican University of California commit went yard 15 times this season.
DP — Zoe Iverson, Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove)She led the Eagles with a .427 batting average and five home runs.
IF — Tiana Johnson, Christian Brothers (Sacramento)The Chico State commit hit eight home runs this season and drove in 42 runs for the Falcons.
OF — Maliyah Lawson, Woodcreek (Roseville)The centerpiece this season for the Timberwolves. The speedy lefty did damage as both a lead-off hitter and center fielder.
IF — Victoria Lloyd, Central Valley (Ceres) A major reason the Hawks had an incredible season. The senior put up big numbers including a .38 batting average.
P — Jacquelyn Lujan, Orestimba (Newman)The Simpson University commit put on a show during the playoffs, which ended with a Division 5 section championship. Her best game may have been against title favorite Sutter, where she struck out 12 and allowed just one hit.
P — Olivia Manchester, Vista del Lago (Folsom)The lefty was a do-it-all player for the Eagles this season. She led the team in batting average, hits and stolen bases in the lead-off spot. She also had a 0.98 ERA in over 100 innings of work in the circle.
IF — Nailyn Marshall, Franklin (Elk Grove)The Cal commit had 20 extra base hits including five home runs and eight triples. She also has one of the best gloves around.
IF — Drew McKown, Granite BayThe Utah Tech signee was as reliable as it gets in all phases of the game for the Grizzlies.
OF — Whitney Montoya, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs)The two hitter for the Bruins led the team in on-base percentage and was flawless in the outfield. The Sierra College commit had the walk-off hit to beat Vista del Lago in the Division 3 section semifinals.
P — Ariel Nava, St. Mary's (Stockton)The Dominican University of California commit pitched in 143 innings this season, striking out 174. She also did some damage at the plate, hitting four home runs.
P — Ana Niles, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs)The
Western Michigan commit was on the bump for every inning of the Bruins'
run to a Division 3 section title, including a seven-inning shutout
performance against Central Catholic in the championship game. Niles
also hit nine home runs as the cleanup hitter.
UTIL — Abi Pikas, Pacheco (Los Banos)She did everything for the Panthers including putting up some monster numbers. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga commit had 57 hits, scored 48 runs, batted .613 and stole a mind-blowing 69 bases.
P — Avery Seva, Granite BayThe ace for the Grizzlies helped lead her squad to a Sierra Foothill League championship. The Santa Clara commit was one of the toughest pitchers to face in the section.
OF — Tatum Silva, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs)The Utah State commit missed her junior season due to an injury. She came back for her senior season in the lead-off and centerfield position and was a major reason the Bruins captured a section title.
P — Samantha Stoll, Inderkum (Sacramento)University of California-Santa Barbara commit struck out 127 and finished with a 1.69 ERA. She also hit five home runs.
P — Rylei Trujillo , Inderkum (Sacramento)The UNLV commit missed part of the season but finished with a bang. She hit .500 and blasted seven home runs. She also struck out 127 batters.
Class of 2024
PLAYER OF THE YEARP — Hannah Duncan, Whitney (Rocklin)The ace for the Wildcats pitched against some of the top competition in the section. Her best performance may have been her 12 strikeout game against Vacaville in the Division 2 section final. She finished her junior campaign with over 180 Ks.
P — Xochitl Atayde, VacavilleA huge reason the Bulldogs went on a 29-game winning streak this season. The ace struck 216 in 147 innings of work.
IF — Hailey Alkire, Capital Christian (Sacramento)Things really got going when Alkire and other transfers became eligible in April. She went on a tear from that point batting .400.
IF — Sydney Barker, RocklinThe Oklahoma commit wows with her glove at shortstop while hitting for average with power at the plate.
UTL — Presley Barnes, OakdaleShe had at least two hits in 22 games this season. The junior will be staying local, playing at the University of Pacific.
P — Olivia Bauer, SutterThe Boise State commit was phenomenal in every part of the game for the Huskies. She went 23-2 in the circle and led the team with a .527 average.
IF — Briseis Botonis, WheatlandShe put up some massive numbers this year including 14 home runs, 52 RBI and a .505 batting average.
UTL — Charlize Cai, Vista del Lago (Folsom)The Cornell commit has one of the best gloves in the section at shortstop. She can also pitch and do damage at the plate, finishing with a .444 average.
P — Kharime Caratachea, RiponShe started the season with a 17-k performance and never looked back, as she finished with over 150 strikeouts.
P — Natalie Camarena, Enochs (Modesto) The Cal Poly commit was the ace for the 20-3 Eagles. She also led the team batting over .500 on the season.
C — Alexa Carino, SutterA power hitter for the Huskies, blasting 13 home runs and driving in 47 runs.
P — Cali Cole, Stone Ridge Christian (Merced)A do-it-all player for the Division 7 section champions. She led the team in average, runs and also was their ace in the circle.
IF — Elysia Duarte, Kimball (Tracy)Finished with 13 hits over the last seven games, bringing her average to .492.
IF — Brynn Escobar, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs)The Colorado Mesa University commit was the centerpiece of the Bruins' defense and was clutch in the biggest moments for the Division 3 section champions.
P — Kailey Estes, Gregori (Modesto)A workhorse for the Jaguars pitching in over 170 innings. She finished with a 0.99 ERA and 267 strikeouts.
UTIL — Maya Filger, Christian Brothers (Sacramento) She had to do a little bit of everything for the Falcons, pitching in over 96 innings and was a top hitter with a .508 average.
OF — Taylor Fitzgerald , Elk GroveThe lefty led the Thundering Herd with a .429 average.
C — Mya Flindt, Whitney (Rocklin)The South Carolina commit was one of the most feared hitters in the section this season. She hit over .400 and blasted seven home runs.
IF — Alyssa Garcia, St. Mary's (Stockton)Had at least one hit in all games but three this season, finishing with a .500 average.
IF — Alexandra Garcia, St. Francis (Sacramento)The Utah State commit led the Troubadours with a .429 average and 23 RBI.
IF — Audrey Graham, DixonThe Santa Clara commit was a threat every time she walked up to the plate. Her on-base percentage was .561 on the season.
P — Sarah Hanf, Laguna Creek (Elk Grove)The powerful right-handed pitcher struck out 200 batters this season. She mowed down 10 or more matters in 13 games.
P — Felesha LePenske, DixonShe was a massive reason the Rams were in their second-consecutive section title game this season. She was their ace in the circle and also hit over .470.
UTIL — Chase Mueller, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs)The Abilene Christian University commit hit .480 for the Bruins and had some of the biggest swings for the Division 3 section champs all season, including a walk-off home run in the regular season to beat Vista del Lago.
After part of the season due to an injury, the lefty returned with a bang. In the circle, she was a huge reason the Trojans made a deep postseason run. She also had the walk-off hit to beat Inderkum in the section finals.
IF — Jessica Szelenyi, Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills)The lead-off hitter for the Trojans sparked many of their rallies. She was also tremendous at second base.
IF — Savannah Warman, Union Mine (El Dorado) Had four or more hits in six games this season, finishing with a .712 batting average for the Diamondbacks.
2025PLAYER OF THE YEARP — Madeline Lawson, Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove)The right-handed ace for the Eagles mowed down over 200 batters this spring. She finished a stellar sophomore campaign with under a 1.00 ERA and was on the bump in the biggest games for the Delta League champions.
IF — Micayla Arlotto, Franklin (Elk Grove)A monster sophomore campaign which included nearly a .600 batting average and only one game without a hit.
IF — Mariah Avila, Orestimba (Newman)Her bat and glove were a big reason why the Warriors were able to capture the Division 5 section title. She had six hits during the playoff run.
IF — Kaeliana DePerio, Kimball (Tracy)The middle infielder closed out the season with 11 hits over seven games. She finished the season with a .464 average.
IF — Alyssa Flindt, Whitney (Rocklin)Another very talented young player in the Wildcats lineup this season. She can hit and has a superb glove in the field.
OF — Olivia Holtz, Lincoln (Stockton)The lefty hitter finished the season with a nine game hitting streak. She totaled 15 hits during that time and raised her overall average to .432.
UTIL — Emily Jacobus, Inderkum (Sacramento)She had some clutch moments this year for the Division 1 section runner-up, including a pair of RBI in the semifinals against Pleasant Grove.
IF — Tylie Kitchen, Whitney (Rocklin)She led the Wildcats with a .421 average. She also hit seven bombs including one at Sacramento State in the Division 2 section final.
UTIL — Maryn MacNeil, Woodcreek (Roseville)The Timberwolves' ace helped them secure a Capital Valley Conference title. She also hit four home runs at the plate.
IF — Molly McFarland, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs)She brought speed, a solid glove and clutch at bats all season for the Bruins. She finished the season hitting above .400.
OF — Morgan Merzon, OakdaleMerzon smashed four home runs and drove in 25 runs for the Mustangs.
IF — Ava Montesdeoca, CeresA .605 hitter this year and had at least a hit in all but two games. She also stole 17 bases.
UTIL — Matea Muraoka, St. Mary's (Stockton)A major contributor for the Rams this spring batting .413 and added 16 extra base hits.
IF — Jazmarie Roberts, Central Catholic (Modesto)The lead-off hitter for the Raiders batted .418 and had a great glove at second base.
IF — Carly Short, Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills)She was as reliable as can be at shortstop for the Division 1 section champions, plus she led the team in home runs and RBI.
P — Ellison Schroeder, Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills)The strong right-handed pitcher brought her game to a different level this season. Although she dealt with injuries toward the end of the season, she struck out 111 batters.
2026
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
P — Ayla Tuua, Capital Christian (Sacramento) The freshman phenom's numbers are eye-popping, to say the least. She smashed 12 home runs, five which were grand slams. She drove in 48 runs and batted .550. In the circle she is an absolute beast, striking out 40 batters in three games during the Division 4 section playoffs.
UTIL — Sam Alekman, Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills)Another one of the Trojans' young and talented players, she hit .383 and joins her teammate Brooklyn Paratore as members of the U15 USA Team.
IF — Marisa Bryson, Pioneer (Woodland, Calif.)Hard to have a better start to a high school career than what Bryson did. She batted .554, drove in 50 runs and hit eight bombs.
IF — Emalee Cargill, TracyA very solid start to her high school career putting up big numbers. She batted .425 and a pair of four-hit games.
OF — Emry Couch, Central Catholic (Modesto)The centerpiece of the Raiders' outfield who also did some damage at the plate, finishing with a .393 average.
IF — Laila Dean, VacavilleClutch when it mattered most all season for the Division 2 section runner-up. In the playoffs, she hit .416 with a home run.
IF — Ellie Escobar, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs)The second baseman had the hit that drove in the lone run during the Bruins' 1-0 victory of Central Catholic in the section final.
She finished with 17 hits over her past eight games which brought her average to .500 for the Division 6 runner-up.
C — Ysabella Granata, Liberty Ranch (Galt)A catcher who can smash the ball. Went yard 11 times this season and finished with a .529 average.
IF — Savannah Lorenzini, RocklinMade her presence known right out of the gate, blasting five home runs in six games. She finished with a .478 average and eight total jacks.
IF — Sienna Lowery, Manteca One of many young talented players for the Buffaloes. She finished the season batting .380.
C — Brooklyn Paratore, Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills)The lefty hitter can swing the bat and was the rock behind the plate for the Trojans. She finished with a .515 batting average against some of the top competition in the section.
P — Roxanne Sardo, FolsomPitched nearly 100 innings facing solid competition in the Sierra Foothill League. Her best game of the season may have been a 10-strikeout performance against Whitney that went into the ninth.
IF — Shealynn Stinson, Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove)Great glove in the middle, a good bat and a threat on the base baths with 26 stolen bases.
IF — Leilani Terrazas, Granite BayMade her presence felt in the season opener with two home runs including a walk-off grand slam to beat Ponderosa. She finished with seven long balls.
The second baseman played a critical role for the Division 4 section champs. She did everything that was needed for the Cougars.
