Dynamic duo of Jaden Perez and Evonie Mendoza lead Summit Charter Collegiate Academy to victory

Recap: Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears vs. Kern Valley Broncs

There's no place like home for the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past Kern Valley with a 57-52 victory on Tuesday.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy was led to victory by Jaden Perez and Evonie Mendoza. Perez scored 22 points along with five assists and four steals, while Mendoza almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine assists, and nine steals. That's the first time this season that Mendoza posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Vazquez, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Kern Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jessie Bunting, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayda Bushling, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. As for Kern Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Summit Charter Collegiate Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Woodlake at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Kern Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rosamond at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rosamond's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so Kern Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
