Basketball Recap: CRYSTALINA BUITRON's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Madera South over Sanger West

Madera South was the 33-27 winner over Sanger West when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Madera South Stallions fell just short of the Sanger West Hornets by a score of 45-43 on Tuesday. The Stallions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madera South lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being CRYSTALINA BUITRON, who posted 17 points. MICHELLE CORONA was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Sanger West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Soha Khan led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Khan has scored at least a third of Sanger West's points. Another player making a difference was Shelbi Castaneda, who scored eight points and five rebounds.

Madera South's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Sanger West, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Madera South has already played their next game, a 54-40 win against McLane on the 6th. As for Sanger West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-35 victory against Madera on the 6th.
