Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but St. Mary's Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Anthony Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Belles of the 76-58 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Anthony to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kadence Lloyd, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Lloyd is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Anaya Tunu was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

St. Mary's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for St. Anthony, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

St. Mary's Academy will host La Salle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Anthony, they will square off against JSerra Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Anthony is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season.
