Soccer Game Preview: Union County vs. Pickens

The Union County Panthers will face off against the Pickens Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Union County's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Union County after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Murray County who was credited with the win. Murray County got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Union County's three.

Pickens is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Dawson County on Thursday. Pickens took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dawson County. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Pickens, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Union County took their victory against Pickens when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. Will Union County repeat their success, or does Pickens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
