Basketball Game Preview: Somerset Eagles vs. United Lions

Somerset is 0-3 against United since December of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Somerset Eagles will take on the United Lions in a tournament on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Somerset is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Westmont Hilltop on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Somerset was beaten by Westmont Hilltop 55-25. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The losing side was boosted by Eve Housley, who posted ten points and five rebounds. That was a full 40% of Somerset's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Belle Martin, who earned three points and three steals.

Meanwhile, United unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Cambria Heights an easy 57-36 win.

Somerset now has a losing record at 2-3. As for United, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Somerset took a serious blow against United when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 55-26. Thankfully for Somerset, Delaney Perrone (who went 9 of 15 on her way to 21 points along with six boards and four blocks) won't be suiting up this time.
