Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Heiress Afalava and London Afalava Lead Coastal Academy to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Del Lago Academy, Coastal Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Bonsall Legionnaires 36-21. That looming 36-21 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stingrays yet this season.

Leading Coastal Academy to victory were London Afalava and Heiress Afalava. London posted six points and eight rebounds, while Heiress put up eight points and eight boards. Heiress has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 23 times she's played. Faith Sega also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Coastal Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Coastal Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bonsall, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Coastal Academy has already played their next game, a 37-23 loss against Foothills Christian on the 14th. As for Bonsall, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Chula Vista Learning Community Charter at 3:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
