Bennington gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Standing Bear Grizzlies. The Badgers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Grizzlies, too.

Skylar Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Alyssa Anderson and Abby Rychly did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Rychly went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. Those three hits gave Rychly a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Wageman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Bennington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Standing Bear only posted an OBP of .259.

Bennington has already played their next contest (against Scottsbluff), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Standing Bear, they will be playing at home against Lincoln Southeast at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
