Softball Recap: Skutt Catholic's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Skutt Catholic extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 18-5. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Columbus Discoverers a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the SkyHawks, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Skutt Catholic got a great performance from Isa Torrez as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Torrez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Avery Wilson was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with three RBI. Laini Michaelis was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Skutt Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive games.

As for Columbus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly nine runs.

On Columbus' side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tressa Kucera, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Skutt Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-7 victory against Standing Bear on the 27th. As for Columbus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Norfolk at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
