Baseball Recap: Briarwood Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Briarwood Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers. That's more bragging rights for the Buccaneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Banks DeMore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Carson Callaway was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Briarwood Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Blake Tench was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

Briarwood Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Augusta Prep Day, they moved to 8-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Briarwood Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cavaliers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
