Baseball Recap: Ripon Comes Up Short

After flying high against Winneconne on Friday, Ripon came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Laconia Spartans by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost five in a row.

Ripon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shay Otto, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Ripon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Laconia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Looking ahead, Ripon will head out to challenge Westfield Area at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Laconia, they will challenge Omro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 3.3, the Foxes 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
