Softball Recap: Polk County Comes Up Short at Home Against Highway 91

Polk County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 18-12 to Highway 91 on Thursday. The Slammers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Highway 91 apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Olive Peterson stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Chloe Schott, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Polk County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-0 defeat against NEN on the 23rd. As for Highway 91, they have also already played their next match, a 16-9 loss against Boone Central on the 25th.
