Softball Game Preview: Lambert Longhorns vs. Cambridge Bears

The Lambert Longhorns will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Cambridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lambert came out on top against East Forsyth on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Longhorns took their match against the Broncos 7-2.

Faith Doolen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Doolen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August of 2024.

In other batting news, Payton Yi was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Caitlin Goodwin was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cambridge put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Riverwood 12-2. Fans of the Bears have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Cambridge's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lambert, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
