The Archbishop Mitty Monarchs will face off against the Palma Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Archbishop Mitty 3.9, Palma 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Archbishop Mitty is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Carmel a 21-0 shutout. The Monarchs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Nico Mata looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Austin Mak was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Elijah Kroenung was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Archbishop Mitty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Palma waltzed into their game on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 8-3.
Austin Rider looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dylan Rocchi, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cesar Mercado, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Archbishop Mitty's victory bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Palma, their win bumped their record up to 22-7.
Archbishop Mitty couldn't quite get it done against Palma in their previous meeting back in May of 2016 as they fell 4-1. Can the Monarchs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
