Elliot Mercer Tops All Others This Week

Starting off the list is Albany's Elliot Mercer, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Mercer rushed for 170 yards and four scores, and also picked up 43 receiving yards and one TD. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Albany is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. Looking ahead, Mercer and the Warriors will face off against Worth County/Northeast Nodaway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Pattonsburg picked up their fourth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Camden Griffith. Griffith turned in nothing short of a gem, picking up 111 receiving yards and three scores, while also rushing for 86 yards and one TD on only seven carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 55 yards.

This year, Griffith has caught 7 touchdowns while averaging 83.2 receiving yards per game.

King City Wins Fourth-Straight Thanks to Landon Carlson

Landon Carlson's big game helped extend King City's winning streak to four on Friday. Nobody could stop Carlson as he rushed for 83 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 142 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes. Carlson is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least four every time he's taken the field this season.

Carlson is probably looking forward to his next game, a road matchup against Princeton on Friday. Back in September of 2024 (the last time Carlson saw the Tigers), he rushed for 183 yards and five scores while picking up 10.8 yards per carry.

Gage Fortner posted a new career-high in passing touchdowns on Friday. He threw for 237 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 87% of his passes. Fortner is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season.

This season, Fortner has thrown 22 touchdowns while averaging 257.5 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 60.93 passer rating per game. This year he is averaging 133.38 passer rating.

Cole Ruby posted a new career-high in rushing touchdowns on Friday. He rushed for 134 yards and three scores on only seven carries. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Worth County/Northeast Nodaway pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Coming up, Ruby and the Tigers will square off against Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
