Irvine is 9-1 against University since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Irvine Vaqueros are taking a road trip to square off against the University Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Irvine came up short against Laguna Beach on Wednesday, falling 53-31.

Meanwhile, University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northwood.

Irvine will need focus on slowing down Asha Highsmith, one of several University players who made an impact when they last played. She posted seven points. Another player making a difference was Christine Lin, who earned six points.

Even though they lost, University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Irvine's record is now 13-10. As for University, their record now sits at 6-18.

Everything went Irvine's way against University in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Irvine made off with a 61-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Irvine since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
