Football Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

Fairfield had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it six. They had to suffer through a 50-0 loss at the hands of the Central Christian Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Cougars are ranked sixth).

As for Central Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Piercen Huff was his usual excellent self, rushing for 147 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Calvin Barnett also helped out with an impressive 80 receiving yards.

Coming up, Fairfield will host Argonia/Attica at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
