Basketball Recap: Bethel Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Bethel Jaguars opened the new year with a less-than-successful 47-34 loss to the Mt. Diablo Red Devils. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 490th, while the Red Devils are ranked 241st).

Mt. Diablo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Natalie Dance out in front who posted 27 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Dance has scored at least a third of Mt. Diablo's points. Another player making a difference was Carlesia Adams, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards.

Bethel's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Mt. Diablo, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Bethel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-37 loss against Salesian College Preparatory on the 7th. As for Mt. Diablo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-45 defeat against Dublin on the 6th.
