Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Conestoga's 17th in Last 21 Outings

Conestoga was handed a 24-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Downingtown East Cougars 48-45. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 43-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Conestoga's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryann Jennings led the charge by putting up 12 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Those seven steals gave Jennings a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Libby Brown, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points and five rebounds.

Conestoga has been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 21 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Downingtown East's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-5.

Conestoga didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-35 defeat against Haverford on the 28th. As for Downingtown East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-49 victory against Cheltenham on the 28th.
