Football Recap: Newcomb Falls Despite Big Games from Colt Yazzie and Landon Noble + How To Watch

Newcomb was the 20-12 winner over Gallup when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Skyhawks received a blow on Friday as they fell 40-24 to the Bengals. While the Skyhawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bengals 12-6 in the first quarter.

Newcomb's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Landon Noble, who rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns, and Colt Yazzie, who rushed for 81 yards and one score on only five carries. Noble's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 108 rushing yards dating back to last season.

A big part of Gallup's win came down to the chemistry between Tristan Garcia and his top target Jayson Bruner. Garcia threw for 189 yards and four TDs while Bruner picked up 137 receiving yards and four scores.

Newcomb now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Gallup, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Newcomb wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 26-6 defeat against Tohatchi on the 12th. As for Gallup, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-26 loss against Bayfield on the 12th.
