Basketball Recap: West Allegheny Comes Up Short

After flying high against New Castle last Monday, West Allegheny came back down to earth. The West Allegheny Indians were outmatched by the Chartiers Valley Colts and fell 62-35. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-33 back in December of 2024.

Chartiers Valley's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Iyla Ozbey, who posted ten points and four steals. Alyssa Davis was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

West Allegheny's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Chartiers Valley, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

West Allegheny has already played their next contest, a 43-42 loss against North Allegheny on the 22nd. As for Chartiers Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-43 defeat against Upper St. Clair on the 18th.
