Football Recap: Watertown-Mayer Comes Up Short

Watertown-Mayer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 28-21 to the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Lakers are ranked 30th).

Watertown-Mayer's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Coming up, Watertown-Mayer will take on Glencoe-Silver Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, they will face off against Montevideo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lakers will be up against the Thunderhawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 48.43 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
