Soccer Game Preview: Laguna Creek vs. Franklin

Laguna Creek hasn't had much luck against Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Laguna Creek take on the Franklin at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Laguna Creek's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Elk Grove. Even though the Cardinals got in a bit of trouble with the refs ( Annalise Mendonsa was handed a red card), the team managed to overcome the adversity.

Katarina Ramirez and Maya Moreno scored both of Laguna Creek's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Franklin entered their tilt with Pleasant Grove on Monday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They won by a goal and slipped past the Eagles 1-0. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Eagles are ranked 71st).

Franklin's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Laguna Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-3.
