Basketball Recap: Annabella Baum and Jocelyn Morales Secure Win for Foothill Tech

Foothill Tech won the last time they faced Valley Christian Academy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Dragons enjoyed a cozy 43-29 victory over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dragons.

Foothill Tech was led to victory by Jocelyn Morales and Annabella Baum. Morales almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Baum dropped a double-double with 12 points and 19 boards. Baum has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more boards the last three times she's played. Clara Smith was another key player, putting up six points.

Foothill Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mckenna Fortier, who posted 14 points and four steals. Dilon Cortner also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Foothill Tech's record now sits at 3-1. As for Valley Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Foothill Tech will head out to square off against Quartz Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons' defense better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 61.8 points per game this season. As for Valley Christian Academy, they will challenge Santa Maria at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Katelyn Mikkelson and Aaliyah Juarez.
