Warrensburg is 1-7 against Odessa since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers will host the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Warrensburg barely beat Pleasant Hill the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers breezed past the Roosters/Chicks to the tune of 38-7 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three matchups by 31 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Odessa). They blew past Center 60-12 on Friday. With the Bulldogs ahead 40-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Odessa's win came from a few key players Warrensburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cole Westerhold, who rushed for 157 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Palmer, who rushed for 114 yards and one score on only 11 carries.
Odessa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 321 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Odessa's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: De'Andre Bandy, Zeke Bergen, and William Scott, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Odessa pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points over those games. As for Warrensburg, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
