Softball Recap: Ashland-Greenwood Victorious

Ashland-Greenwood posted their closest win since October 11, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Freeman Falcons. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Reese Fisher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ellie Milburn was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Paizlee Strode also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ashland-Greenwood now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Freeman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Ashland-Greenwood is set to challenge their familiar foe Cozad at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Freeman will face off against rival Falls City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
