Basketball Recap: Tabernacle Christian picks up ninth straight win at home

Basketball Recap: Tabernacle Christian Eagles vs. Bloomington HomeSchool Bobcats

The Tabernacle Christian Eagles came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Bloomington HomeSchool 49-32. This was payback for Tabernacle Christian, who suffered a 35-29 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Tabernacle Christian to victory were Liz Southerland and Annie Sichting. Southerland almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds, while Sichting scored 23 points along with seven assists and seven steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Southerland has scored at least a third of Tabernacle Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marianna Natareno, who scored no points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.

Tabernacle Christian pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Bloomington HomeSchool, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.

Tabernacle Christian will take on the Crusaders at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (Maranatha Baptist is ranked 261st in Wisconsin, while the Eagles are ranked 236th in Indiana). Bloomington HomeSchool will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Firehawks at 12:30 p.m. on February 10th.
