If Brookstone beats St. Anne-Pacelli with five runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Brookstone didn't even let St. Anne-Pacelli on the board on Thursday, marking Brookstone's second-straight 5-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brennan Neal made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Neal wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charles Briscoe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Briscoe also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Maxwell Jones was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

St. Anne-Pacelli has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. Brookstone's victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
