Basketball Recap: Anderson Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Anderson was the 52-27 winner over Las Plumas when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Cubs lost 57-33 to the Thunderbirds on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 834th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 410th).

Las Plumas was led to victory by Ava Hepworth and Taydym George. Hepworth dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards, while George went 7-for-13 to rack up 22 points. With that strong performance, Hepworth is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. Caysley Hepworth was another key player, putting up six points and 16 boards.

Anderson has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Las Plumas, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Anderson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-41 defeat against Sutter on the 13th. As for Las Plumas, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-46 victory against Lassen on the 12th.
