Baseball Recap: Calvary Day Comes Up Short

Calvary Day fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Wayne County on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wayne County Yellow Jackets by a score of 2-1. The Cavaliers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Calvary Day saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dalton Kelley, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Calvary Day's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Wayne County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Calvary Day and Wayne County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Calvary Day will face off against Southeast Bulloch at 6:00 p.m. on Monday up 125 places (35 vs. 160). The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Calvary Day 2.8, Wayne County 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Similarly, Wayne County (ranked 22nd) will meet Perry (ranked 194th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
