Basketball Recap: McCook Comes Up Short

McCook had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-13 to make it five. They took a blow against the Ogallala Indians, falling 61-23. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Indians are ranked tenth).

Cali Crawford was McCook's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Crawford also led the team in rebounds with eight. Brecken Gale took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

As for Ogallala, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-2. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Shaydyn Rasby produced another solid performance shooting 80% from the field on her way to 17 points. Those 80% shooting accuracy gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aniston O'Neil, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

McCook has already played their next contest, a 57-40 victory against Alliance on the 7th. As for Ogallala, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-31 win against Broken Bow on the 7th.
