Baseball Recap: North Olmsted Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

North Olmsted's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Vermilion Sailors by a score of 6-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Luis Bautista made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Olmsted is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-10-1 otherwise. Bautista was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony DAlessandro, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Chase Haug was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

North Olmsted's victory bumped their record up to 6-11-1. As for Vermilion, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-14.

Looking ahead, North Olmsted will square off against Valley Forge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vermilion, they will challenge Firelands at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
