Football Game Preview: Bishop Miege Stags vs. Blue Valley Tigers

The Bishop Miege Stags will venture away from home to face off against the Blue Valley Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Miege has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while Blue Valley will come in with three straight victories.

On Friday, Bishop Miege was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 24-20 to Blue Valley North.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Blue Valley took on Blue Valley West on Thursday. The Tigers walked away with a 28-21 win over the Jaguars.

Bishop Miege better keep an eye on Hayden Ward. He was instrumental in Blue Valley's win, rushing for 215 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 45 receiving yards. Ward has become a key player for the Tigers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Taft Stueve was in the mix as well, providing Blue Valley with two TDs.

Blue Valley's run defense was locked in: Blue Valley West could only muster 1.6 yards per carry. While four picked up at least five total tackles, Deacon Barber stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks and made five total tackles. Blue Valley's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.63 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.27 on average over their last five games.

Blue Valley's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Barber was the leader with two.

Bishop Miege's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Blue Valley, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Bishop Miege suffered a grim 27-7 defeat to Blue Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Stags, Christopher Aiello (who threw for 353 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt) won't be suiting up this time.
