Football Recap: Garden Grove Takes a Loss

Garden Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pacifica Mariners. The Argonauts lost against the Mariners in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 28-0 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Garden Grove lost, don't look at Quentin Pacelli. Despite the final result, he rushed for 204 yards and three TDs. Pacelli's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 167 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Garden Grove's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pacifica, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Garden Grove will venture away from home to take on Santa Ana at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pacifica, they will welcome Northwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
