Basketball Recap: Western Christian Takes a Loss

Western Christian played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 58-36 to the California School for the Deaf-Riverside Cubs. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 560th, while the Cubs are ranked 211th).

When it comes to explaining why Western Christian lost, don't look at Cece Balderrama. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Alvarez, who posted four points and three steals.

Western Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for California School for the Deaf-Riverside, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Western Christian is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will square off against Charter Oak at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for California School for the Deaf-Riverside, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-13 victory against The Grove School on the 10th.
