Softball Recap: Chadron Finds Home Field Redemption Against Scottsbluff

There's no place like home for Chadron, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 19-15 win over the Scottsbluff Bearcats on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Bearcats on September 13th, they had to take a 6-3 defeat.

Jae Gooder was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Chadron got a massive performance out of Addisyn Gruver, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, Gruver posted three RBI, the most she's had since September 2nd. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Hendrickson, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI.

Chadron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Chadron's record is now 13-11. As for Scottsbluff, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.

Chadron will challenge O'Neill on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Scottsbluff does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
