Basketball Game Preview: Ephrata Mennonite Legends vs. Lancaster County Christian Lions

After both having extra time off, the Ephrata Mennonite Legends and the Lancaster County Christian Lions will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ephrata Mennonite is leaving town to face Lancaster County Christian after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Ephrata Mennonite lost 50-25 to Linville Hill two weeks ago. The Legends were down 48-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Lancaster County Christian came tearing into last Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 47-36. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Eagles are ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ephrata Mennonite better keep an eye on Alicia Fisher. She was instrumental in Lancaster County Christian's win, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Fisher has scored at least a third of Lancaster County Christian's points. Faith Urenovitch was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Lancaster County Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.
