Basketball Game Preview: Palm Springs Indians vs. Liberty Bison

The Palm Springs Indians and the Liberty Bison will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Palm Springs' defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so Liberty's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Palm Springs' usually-dominant defense will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Brawley offense got past them. Palm Springs came up short against Brawley on Thursday, falling 60-36. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Indians came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Wildcats are ranked 905th).

Despite the defeat, Palm Springs had strong showings from Shayla Bates, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards, and Miley Flores, who posted 12 points. That was a full 44.4% of Palm Springs' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Aja Walker, who had four points.

Meanwhile, Liberty can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 36-28 victory over Desert Hot Springs.

Liberty's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Palm Springs, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3.
