Basketball Recap: Grant Lancers vs. Verdugo Hills Dons
The Grant Lancers lost against the Verdugo Hills Dons last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Grant took a hard 48-32 fall against the Dons. Grant has struggled against the Dons recently, as their matchup on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Grant lost, one person who can't be blamed is Natalie Quinones. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quinones has scored all season.
Verdugo Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elaine Oh, who scored 21 points. It was the first time this season that Oh scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayleen Castanos, who scored seven points along with six blocks and five rebounds.
Grant has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Verdugo Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Grant will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chavez is on a five-game streak of home losses, the Lancers a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Verdugo Hills will take on the Parrots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Poly is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
