Softball Recap: Johnson County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Johnson County had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-5 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Gatewood Gators by a score of 8-5. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

As for Gatewood, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

For Gatewood's part, Ellie McMillian made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Arthur, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnson County will host Telfair County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Johnson County's pitchers better be ready for this one: Telfair County has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Gatewood, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Windsor Academy at 4:00 p.m.
