Football Recap: Alamogordo Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Hobbs

Alamogordo faced Hobbs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers lost 47-26 to the Eagles. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Alamogordo's loss came despite strong showings from Bryson Bloom and Nathanael Best. Bloom rushed for 111 yards and a pair of scores, while Best rushed for 121 yards and two TDs.

Hobbs was led to victory by Demarcus Hill and Junior Medrano. Hill rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, while Medrano rushed for 75 yards and one score on only nine carries. What's more, Medrano racked up 135 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Alamogordo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Hobbs, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Alamogordo and Hobbs will both be playing Centennial the next time they take the field. The Tigers will head out to face the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Eagles will host them at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
