Preview: Oceana Sharks vs. The Nueva School Mavericks
Oceana has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Nueva School Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Oceana will be strutting in after a victory while The Nueva School will be coming in after a defeat.
Oceana scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Design Tech with a sharp 62-39 win. Oceana might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three contests by 21 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, The Nueva School suffered a tough 63-39 defeat at the hands of Jefferson on Wednesday. The Nueva School has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Siana Kapoor, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Amrutha Rao, who scored ten points.
The victory got Oceana back to even at 3-3. As for The Nueva School, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Oceana against The Nueva School in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 as the squad secured a 74-21 victory. With Oceana ahead 32-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.
